Metro workers will be repairing track on three lines this weekend, closing five stations.

The transit agency is investing $5.5 billion to bring its infrastructure up to date.

The following lines will see the work and its accompanying delays:

• On the Red Line, trains will single track in two areas: between Van Ness and Dupont Circle, as well as between Rhode Island Avenue and Takoma. Trains are expected to come every 24 minutes, except during daytime hours between Dupont Circle and NoMa-Gallaudet, where extra trains will mean wait times of 10 minutes between trains.

• Two stations, Ballston and Virginia Square, will be closed on the Orange Line as crews replace track circuits. Free shuttle buses will run between East Falls Church and Clarendon, and riders using the shuttles should expect to add about 25 minutes to their trips.

• On the Green Line, free shuttle buses will replace trains from Greenbelt to West Hyattsville. Three stations -- Greenbelt, College Park and Prince George's Plaza -- will be closed. Riders using the shuttles should expect to add 35 minutes to their journeys.
