Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., this morning criticized President Obama for his tepid response to the news that the IRS was targeting Tea Party and conservative groups.

“If the president was really outraged by this, someone should lose their job,” Paul stated.

Paul insisted that it was time for government officials to start firing people in response to government failure, citing the intelligence failures of 9/11 and the people responsible for responding to the Benghazi terror attacks.

“What kind of government allows you to abuse people for their political speech and beliefs and then not be fired?” Paul said. Paul was incredulous that ineffectual government officials were kept in office or shuffled around. “Anybody who was aware of and approved of targeting people for their political beliefs and speech needs to be fired — never in this position again and made an example of,” Paul said.
