One of the political world's favorite actors, Rob Lowe, will become the latest to play former President John F. Kennedy in National Geographic Channel's upcoming TV movie "Killing Kennedy."
The movie follows February's "Killing Lincoln," the channel's first-ever, full-length docudrama. Both projects are adapted from books co-written by Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard.
The cast will also include Ginnifer Goodwin as Jackie Kennedy and Michelle Trachtenberg as Marina Oswald, assassin Lee Harvey Oswald's wife , according to the Hollywood Reporter. The network has yet to announce casting for Oswald or a possible narrator (Tom Hanks played a visible role as on-screen narrator for "Killing Lincoln").
"Killing Kennedy" will film in Richmond, Va., this summer, during hiatus for its TV-star cast, with a planned November premiere sometime around the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination. That means James Marsden's portrayal of Kennedy will hit screens first, with "The Butler" scheduled for release in theaters Aug. 16.
