This week's Mainstream Media Scream features Cokie Roberts on Sunday's "This Week" program lashing out at moves she feels waters down voting rights.

"You know, having grown up in the deep south in the era of Jim Crow, the difference is dramatic," said Roberts during a section of the show to discuss this week's 50th anniversary of the March on Washington. "And the fact that Andy Young was Mayor of Atlanta and John Lewis is a member of Congress from Georgia, is a great testament to the fact that when you do something like pass a voting rights bill, that it makes a difference. Which is why, at the moment, what's going on about voting rights is downright evil because it is something that really needs to keep going forward not backward."

Media Research Center Vice President of Research Brent Baker explains our pick: "Roberts perfectly illustrated liberal condescension. Instead of rationally discussing the pros and cons of a policy, impugn the position as 'evil' in an effort to discredit those with whom you disagree by claiming to hold the only moral position. She's learned well from Barack Obama - or maybe he learned it first from her and other left-wing members of the D.C. press corps."

Rating: Five out of five screams.
