HARTFORD, Conn. — Former U.S. Comptroller David Walker is planning to get involved in Connecticut's 2014 election.
The Bridgeport Republican has scheduled what he is calling "a major political announcement" Monday on the steps of the state Capitol in Hartford. He is scheduled to be joined by Jerry Labriola Jr., chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party.
Walker is expected to announce he is interested in running for lieutenant governor. He could be competing against state Rep. Penny Bacchiochi (BAH'-kee-ah-kee) of Stafford Springs, who has formed an exploratory committee but has expressed interest in seeking the Republican Party's endorsement for lieutenant governor.
Walker was appointed Comptroller General by former President Bill Clinton in 1998. He was appointed Assistant Secretary of Labor by former President Ronald Reagan in 1987.
