LOS ANGELES (AP) — Two California men have been charged with stealing nude photos from hundreds of hacked email accounts and posting the images on a website.
The FBI arrested 27-year-old Hunter Moore, of Woodland, and 25-year-old Charles Evans, of Studio City, on Thursday.
Moore appeared in court in Sacramento but didn't enter a plea. Deputy Federal Public Defender Jill Ginstling, who represents Evans, didn't immediately return a call.
Authorities say Moore ran a now-defunct website called isanyoneup.com that posted explicit photos, including some submitted to the site without the permission of the people in them.
A federal indictment in Los Angeles says Moore also paid Evans for hacking hundreds of email accounts and providing nude photos that Moore posted.
The charges include conspiracy, computer hacking and ID theft. Moore and Evans could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
