The Republican Senate leader laughed off a video from his Tea Party challenger, which seeks to tie him to President Obama.
“He’s making the argument that I am somehow an Obama enabler. I’m sure the White House would snicker at that,” said McConnell.
McConnell said the argument that he was liberal was “absurd.”
He added that in key Senate races where Tea Party-backed candidates are fighting for the GOP ticket that he expected the party’s best pick to head to the general election.
“To win in November you need to have an electable candidate, and I am very confident that in every single place where we have an opportunity for a pick up we’re going to have a very electable candidate, not just in the primary but in the general as well,” said McConnell.
