One of the hosts asked the Florida Republican if he believed that Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., still had a chance to run for president after the bridge closing controversy swirling around his administration.
"Sure. Absolutely," Rubio said, pointing out that the election was still years away.
"Look, I think people are spending a lot of time getting overheated about elections that are four years and three years away," he said. "Because this stuff is increasingly covered as a sport … there are people that cover politics on a daily basis like if it was March Madness everyday."
The hosts joked that Christie would soon be in the same "weight class" as Rubio after the New Jersey governor lost more than 100 pounds.
"Well, I'm going the opposite direction," Rubio joked.
