New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie disagreed with critics who suggest that the bridge-closing controversy in his administration has affected his ability to run for president.

In an exclusive interview Thursday evening with ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer, the Republican governor was asked whether the controversy made him change his leadership style.

"No. I am who I am, and for some people, they love it," Christie replied, pointing out that many people in New Jersey appreciated his blunt political style.

"What about Iowa?" Sawyer smiled.

"Oh, I think they love me in Iowa, too, Diane," Christie said. "I've been there a lot. I think they love me there, too."

Christie admitted that the controversy was certainly the toughest point in his political career but that he never thought about resigning.

"Never," he replied after Sawyer asked the question. "Never. I'm not a quitter."
