Oregon is the only state besides New Jersey that outlaws self-service gas pumps, and 44 percent of respondents in the May 22-27 poll of 956 registered voters want to keep it that way. Forty-six percent supported letting Oregonians fill their own tanks, and 11 percent were "not sure."
The poll by the Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling found that 18- to 29-year-old supported pumping one's own gas, while those 65 and older overwhelmingly opposed the idea.
The PPP survey also found that 55 percent of Oregonians surveyed were "not sure" whether they liked the television show "Portlandia" Of those that did have an opinion on the indie sketch comedy show, opinion was split down political lines, with self-identifying liberals more likely to find "Portlandia" favorable, and conservatives more likely to classify the show as "unfavorable."
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
