LANSING, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a 12-year-old boy is recovering after falling part-way down a 300-foot central New York cliff before getting snagged on a tree.

Emergency officials tell local media that the boy was hiking along the edge of a wooded cliff near a salt mine in Lansing Monday afternoon when he fell about 50 feet. After getting caught on a tree, he used his cellphone to call 911.
