You need rest after playing 114 minutes, 41 seconds of hockey. So the Capitals took a day off after Wednesday’s brutal 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers at Verizon Center. They’ve been in this position before – down 2-1 in a series with Game 4 at home. They managed to tie the first-round series with the Boston Bruins and go on to win in seven games.
Saturday’s Game 4 against the Rangers is every bit as crucial. The Caps took to the ice on Friday morning for an efficient practice. With the game just 24 hours away – a 12:30 p.m. start thanks to NBC – there was no need for a drawn out practice. At this time of year, the players know what needs to be done. Here are the lines on the ice right now:
All eight defensemen are on the ice plus both goalies, Braden Holtby and Michal Neuvirth.
