After a tough primary loss last week, Sen. Richard Lugar prepares to run his 31st and final ACLI Capital Challenge on Wednesday. Race director Jeff Darman called Lugar’s commitment to the three-mile race “something special.”

“He’s the only person, period, who has ever run every one of our races,” Darman said. “To have somebody come out and make a commitment, particularly in Washington, and never go back on it, it’s incredible.” Lugar clocked in at 44:40 last year, though Darman says as a younger man, the senator could do it in under 30 minutes.
