The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool project started in 2010 has missed its initial deadline and won't be completed until well after the Fourth of July holiday.

The $33 million project to revamp the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was slated to be completed by this spring. But National Park Service officials say the overhaul hit construction delays and completion has been pushed to the first week of August.

The Reflecting Pool isn't the only area landmark that might soon look different to tourists. A mound of dirt sits directly in front of the Capitol, where an irrigation and drainage upgrade will have that part of the National Mall torn up well into the fall season.
