D.C. Councilman Marion Barry has hired 'Washington Insider' personality LaToya Foster to be his new spokeswoman, a source with knowledge of the hiring has told The Washington Examiner. Foster is the host of “In The Know,” a Sunday morning, independently-produced, television newsmagazine/political affairs program, which airs on WJLA, according to her website.

Neither Foster nor Barry Chief of Staff Joyce Clements-Smith immediately responded requests for comment Wednesdays on the hiring.

Barry's office posted the job in early May, asking for a communications director who could “develop a process and mechanism for the receipt of information from citizens;” “assures the monitoring of ‘hits’ to the Councilmembers website;” “advertises the Internet Site in Councilmember press releases;” and communicates with the media.

Barry's mouth has recently landed him in hot water after two disparaging comments he made in April toward Asian shop owners and Filipino nurses.

According to her website, Foster "frequently blogs for FoxNews.com, and has contributed to national publications, including Upscale Magazine and The Source.  She also covers professional sports for local publications, news wire services and talk radio."
