1. FAVORITE NEIGHBORHOOD HANGOUT
Shelly's Back Room
2. BEST MODE OF TRANSPORTATION
The Metro, of course, but primarily because I left my car back in New Jersey.
3. FAVORITE LOCAL SPORTS EVENT
When the Yankees come to town to play the Nationals, which is where I'll be this weekend.
4. BEST PLACE FOR OUT-OF-TOWN VISITORS
Everyone always wants to see the monuments. I can't tell you how many times I've given that tour before.
5. BEST PLACE FOR LIVE MUSIC
I honestly wouldn't know. I'd rather hear a DJ at a club and fist-pump the night away.
6. FAVORITE MUSEUM
The Newseum. It has a lot of open space, but it's particularly interesting because many of the exhibits have historical context that applies directly to issues of significance today -- more so than most other museums.
7. MOST ROMANTIC SPOT
Filomena Ristorante in Georgetown. I just went for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Wink, wink.
8. FAVORITE WAY TO SPEND A LAZY SUNDAY
Is there such a thing as a "lazy Sunday" in D.C.?
9. BEN'S CHILI BOWL, OLD EBBITT GRILL, OR CAFE MILANO?
Ben's Chili Bowl. I'm only a couple of blocks away!
10. BEST RETREAT OUTSIDE THE BELTWAY
You can't beat the Jersey Shore in the summer (the beach, not the show). I love it there this time of year!
11. BEST RETREAT INSIDE THE BELTWAY
Whether it's sailing or just walking along the waterfront, the water is a nice contrast and escape from the city.
12. BEST PLACE FOR LATE-NIGHT EATS
13. PROUDEST PART OF LIVING IN D.C.
When I was working for a state legislator in New Jersey and serving as the co-chairman of the College Republican National Committee, I often came to D.C. to visit or for meetings. Now that I'm actually living here, it's pretty cool to think about how I'm just blocks away from some of the most important organizations and buildings -- and amongst some of the most powerful and influential people in the country. Each day, I am thankful to those who protect and defend our individual freedoms and national security.
14. EMBARRASSING PART OF LIVING IN D.C.
