A Virginia man has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges, admitting that he filmed sex acts he performed on a young boy

William Hurlbut, 28, of Fredericksburg, pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court in Alexandria. He was indicted last week.

According to court records, in 2009, Hurlbut performed sex acts on an 8-year-old boy who was sleeping and filmed them with his iPhone. Hurlbut admitted that he also took photographs of the victim naked in the bathroom. Authorities found more than 2,000 images and video of child pornography on his computers and other digital devices, court records say.

Hurlbut is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 16. Prosecutors said he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and could receive up to 30 years behind bars. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.
