Two hundred and forty years ago, George Washington and his troops took on the largest army in the world, fighting for the noble cause of liberty and independence. Today, the “battle of our times” is a battle to give men the right to dress up as a woman and pee in the girl’s bathroom.
Yes, we certainly have come a long way.

In 2016 America it’s no longer acceptable to use basic science and biology to determine whether someone is a ‘he’ or a ‘she.’ The genitalia that you are born with is no longer a factor; instead, who you are — or what you are, for that matter — is now based on how you feel on the inside. If you feel like a girl then you are a girl, if you feel like a boy then you are a boy, and if you feel like a squirrel then you’re a squirrel. Definitions are completely blown out the window, and as a result, society as a whole is becoming less and less structured.
But to the progressive left, things like definition and societal structure are completely irrelevant. The process of fundamental transformation and social engineering cannot exist if traditions remain embedded in the fabric of our country. In order to remove these traditions, the left is constantly looking for victims to carry on their endless “civil rights” movement. I don’t believe it to be a coincidence that less than a year after gay marriage was legalized at the federal level, the left has suddenly attached itself to the issue of transgender rights. Let’s just be blunt with it — progressives thrive when they are able to separate people into categories and paint them as victims of oppression and bigotry.
Of course, while the left has a lot to gain from this sort of social engineering, many others are forced to deal with the negative consequences.
Last week, the Obama administration issued an official edict compelling all public schools from kindergarten on up to allow students to choose bathrooms and locker rooms based on their “gender identity” rather than their biological sex. This, of course, has many people concerned, and rightfully so. If 13-year-old David wants to put on a wig and call himself a female, no one can stop him from getting undressed in the girl’s locker room. And if 13-year-old Lauren feels uncomfortable about that, the Obama administration’s response appears to be, “too bad.”
Indeed, others appear to have taken a similar stance as our dear leader. Last week, an article was published in North Carolina’s Charlotte Observer by the newspaper’s editorial board. In it, they wrote, “Yes, the thought of male genitalia in girls’ locker rooms — and vice versa — might be distressing to some. But the battle for equality has always been in part about overcoming discomfort — with blacks sharing facilities, with gays sharing marriage — then realizing it was not nearly so awful as some people imagined.”
If you couldn’t already tell, this whole controversy infuriates me, and for multiple reasons. But the opinions that matter most are those who have daughters, particularly young ones between the ages of five and eighteen. I personally don’t have children yet, but I can’t imagine I would feel too comfortable with a high school boy saying that he “self-identifies” as a female just for the chance to be close to my daughter during what’s supposed to be a private moment.
But once again, the only opinion that matters is that of Barack Obama and his political operatives who endlessly help push his agenda. They stop at nothing, even if it means telling a young girl to just “suck it up” when a man enters their bathroom or locker room. For a party that routinely talks about the Republican “war on women,” this sure is ironic, isn’t it?
