Redskins special teams coach Danny Smith wanted none of the excuses. His guy missed a field goal, plain and simple. Again. And in the past three games, Redskins placekicker Shaun Suisham has missed three of his last six kicks.
Suisham missed a 42-yard field goal wide right with three seconds left in the first half in the 23-7 loss to the Giants Sunday. Redskins coach Jim Zorn blamed it on a high snap. Smith disagreed.

“We practice those things,” Smith told The Examiner’s John Keim. “You’ve got to cover each other’s backs in that situation. He’s got to make the kick.”
Smith said his confidence hasn’t waned in Suisham, who has made just 21 of 29 field goals this season.
“He’s a good young player with a good leg and he has a lot of upside,” Smith said. “I’m hard as hell on him, but I have a lot of confidence in him.”
The special teams also had three penalties and missed an opportunity to block an extra point when the hold was bobbled. Yet no Redskin came close.
“We should have blocked it,” Smith said.
