A woman was sentenced to 13 years in prison for a jealousy-spurred stun gun attack on a pregnant woman in Montgomery County.

Christine Devaux, 39, of Monrovia, was ordered on Tuesday to serve 13 years of a 45-year sentence, the Frederick News-Post reports.

Devaux pleaded guilty in December to attacking 30-year-old Lynae Mattson, who was nearly nine-months pregnant at the time. Devaux was the girlfriend of Mattson’s father-in-law, and Devaux feared the unborn child would steal the attention of her boyfriend, according to court records.

Devaux was accused of violently beating Mattson and shooting her with a stun gun. Mattson and her baby survived the assault.

The attack happened at Mattson’s Gaithersburg home. Devaux then fled to a Frederick motel, where she was arrested.
