Iowa cellphone, Internet service problems reported

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Service is being restored to some areas of eastern Iowa that experienced disruptions of cellphone and Internet connections.

The city of Dubuque reported that the severing of a fiber optic cable affected Mediacom phone and Internet services, as well as U.S. Cellular phone service.

The Iowa Lottery says the outage affected lottery machines in Cedar Rapids, preventing some machines from issuing tickets for Wednesday night's drawing.

Lottery spokeswoman Mary Neubauer says up 50 outlets in Cedar Rapids and Marion areas were affected.
