BILOXI, Miss. (AP) — The Biloxi City Council has voted for the city to borrow $21 million and accept $15 million from the state to build a baseball stadium in downtown.

The council also approved Tuesday a $1 per year lease agreement with Beau Rivage, which owns the land across from the casino where the stadium will be built; the lease with baseball development group; and a contract with Dale Partners Architects.

The stadium is expected to be completed by mid-April of 2015, in time for the start of AA Southern League play. The current Huntsville (Ala.) Stars will relocate to Biloxi after the conclusion of the 2014 season. Southern League owners approved the move in December.

The city will build a parking garage and walkway to the Beau Rivage.
