NEW YORK (AP) — Two painters are creating Times Square scenes in real time while working out of an empty storefront in New York City's famed Brill Building.
Andy Hammerstein (HAM'-ur-styn) and Tom Christopher are painting at the landmark building until July 17. They're working in plain view of thousands of pedestrians.
The Brill Building is at 49th Street and Broadway. It's famous for generations of songwriters who peddled their wares to music publishers.
Hammerstein and Christopher start with sketches and photos of Times Square and then paint the scenes on canvas.
Christopher says one goal is to "de-mystify" the artistic process for the public.
Both artists are known for their New York cityscapes.
