At No. 1 can Kansas avoid the jinx?

In the last three weeks, being ranked No. 1 by the Associated Press has been the kiss of death. First, it was No. 1 Duke losing at North Carolina State. Then, it was No. 1 Louisville falling to Syracuse. Last week, Duke was back at No. 1 and was thrashed by Miami.

This week, Kansas (18-1) got the nod by three points (760-757) over Michigan (19-1), receiving 16 first-place votes to 14 for the Wolverines. No. 4 Florida (16-2) was the only other team receiving a first-place vote.

So Jayhawks beware. They play at West Virginia (9-10) on Monday night and host formidable Oklahoma State (13-5) on Saturday.
