During a rally for President Obama in Green Bay Wisconsin, Packers cornerback Charles Woodson announced a donation of $100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist those affected by Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast.

Woodson praised Obama for “suspending” his re-election campaign to deal with the aftermath of the storm.

“The president didn’t just round up Democrats,” Woodson added,” He did it in a bipartisanship fashion,” noting that the president was photographed with Governor Christie yesterday.

Woodson added that Obama’s belief in community and the common good was what brings people together, similar to the belief of the community in Green Bay.

“Let’s be honest its the reason why the Green Bay Packers are here, its because of the sacrifices that you made years ago to keep the team here,” he said.

Woodson added that the town in Ohio where he grew up had the same sense of community.

“It’s the reason why my mother as a single parent could raise three kids because, the community had our backs,” he continued. “You know who else had our back? The government. Because there were times when between not having a job and having a job we needed the government to bridge that gap and to give us the things we needed.”
