  • This is more than just a good start for Orioles' Chris Davis

    Updated: Sun, Apr 7, 2013

In a 13-game stretch last September, Baltimore's Chris Davis did little. He hit a home run. He drove in four RBI. Yawn. Davis followed that quiet spell with seven games in which he homered seven times and drove in 13 runs. So his hot start is more or less a continuation of how he ended 2012....

Washington allows first run after starting season with two shutouts The manager wasn't wowed by his game. And the pitcher himself received a handful of questions about whether he had his best stuff (not really) and why a particular pitch took a while to work (the slider). All this for a guy...

    John Keim

    Published: Wed, Apr 3, 2013

Rex Grossman struggled with his role as a No. 3 quarterback last season, but he liked being part of the Redskins. So after failing to find a No. 2 quarterback job elsewhere, Grossman agreed to return for another season playing behind Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins. After starting 13 games...

  • Mitch McGary makes his mark for Wolverines in NCAA tournament

    Updated: Tue, Apr 2, 2013

The transformation in the tournament had nothing to do with the more heralded players. Michigan's run to make the Final Four wasn't about Trey Burke (well, there was that shot vs. Kansas) or Tim Hardaway, Jr. or Nik Stauskas (okay, there were those six 3-pointers vs. Florida). Rather, it was...

  • Redskins enter era of stability

    John Keim

    Updated: Tue, Apr 2, 2013

The Redskins' forced thriftiness led them down a path they didn't want, but it's one they've handled well. And one that might pay off just as well as if they'd spent like, well, the organization had done once upon a time. The Redskins didn't do much after the first day in free agency a year...

    John Keim

    Updated: Mon, Apr 1, 2013

Robert Griffin III might be considered superhuman by some (his doctor), but he bleeds as a fan just like the rest of us. Witness his tweets following Louisville's upset win over his alma mater, Baylor, in the women's basketball Elite Eight. Clearly he was displeased with the officiating and its...

  • Streaking Penguins get a bad break

    John Keim

    Updated: Sun, Mar 31, 2013

Pittsburgh's season took a turn last week when the Penguins acquired future Hall of Famer Jarome Iginla. For little, we might add. The Penguins' season took another turn Saturday. But what sort of turn remains to be seen. That's when star Sidney Crosby, the leader in the MVP race, broke his...
