BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The Capital Area Transit System's board of directors quickly has accepted the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Brian Marshall and will launch a search for a new leader for Baton Rouge's bus system.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/Y9o7yz ) that board member Dalton Honoré II and Chief Financial Officer Gary Owens will handle administrative duties until an interim CEO is picked.

Brian Marshall's departure comes amid recent criticism of the bus agency's performance

Board Chairman Isaiah Marshall said the interim CEO will be selected at the May 21 meeting and will lead the agency for six to nine months while a concurrent national search for a permanent CEO is underway.

The agency intends to continue pushing ahead with a massive expansion and service improvements plan.
