< p>CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Experts say the water quality of a South Texas bay has gotten so bad that some fish are starving and a study will be done to help improve conditions.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times (http://bit.ly/106gTHY ) on Tuesday reported testing later this month will look at salinity, agriculture or other runoff and the food chain. A 2010 fish kill and a persistent brown tide bloom have raised concerns at the bay about 25 miles south of Corpus Christi.

A group called Friends of Baffin Bay has grown into a consortium led by the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program and involving the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. Marine biology officials at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will also assist.

Kleberg County Commissioners will pay $11,500 toward the study. Bay supporters also seek private funds.
