At least three Ballou Senior High School students were taken to a hospital after they apparently fell ill from eating apples, officials said.

D.C. Fire and EMS workers were notified at about 10:55 a.m. Monday that students at the school, located at 3401 4th St. SE, were sick.

Seven students were evaluated and at least three students were taken to a hospital for further evaluation. The students who were transported complained of stomach pains and nausea, Battalion Chief Brian Lee said.
