FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) — The Civil War Battle of the Wilderness' 150th anniversary will be commemorated in Orange County in May with living history camps, walking tours and other activities.

About 3,700 men were killed during the battle fought May 5-7 in 1864. Nearly 20,000 men were wounded.

Leigh Mawyer with the Orange County Tourism and Visitors Bureau says visitors will have opportunities to experience the past and reflect on the battle's impact on the people of the region, along with the costs of war.

A temporary visitor center will be located at the southern end of Saunders Field. That's where the battle began.

The battlefield is located in eastern Orange County and is part of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park.
