President Obama is expected to “spend some down time” with his close friends just hours before his debate this evening.

The White House pool report notes that Marty Nesbitt and Mike Ramos, two of his closest friends, will spend time with the president this afternoon after he finishes an hour of debate preparations.

Ramos is one of Obama’s close childhood friends from Hawaii, and Nesbitt frequently plays basketball with the president on primary election days, which according to the Washington Post is a “superstition” for the candidate.

Obama will have dinner with the First Lady at the hotel before the debate.
