Thanks to the soon-to-be-open Beltway express lanes, Virginia drivers have the chance to win a customized Mini Cooper.

Drivers can register their new E-ZPass Flex at 495expresslanes.com by Aug. 31 for a shot at the car.

Drivers will need the new type of E-ZPass — called E-ZPass Flex — if they want to use the express lanes as free carpool lanes.

The car was paid for by the private company helping to build the express lanes, a spokesman said.

The express lanes are to open later this year. Toll rates will vary based on traffic congestion, but the lanes will be free for drivers with at least two passengers, motorcycles, buses and emergency vehicles.
