We caught Ben Sollee at just the right moment: The cellist just released The Hollow Sessions, a collection of covers that includes his cello-fied takes on songs by Fiona Apple, Paul Simon, Tom Waits, and more. (It's available as a pay-what-you'd like download right here.) And though Sollee was familiar with Black Flag, he hadn't heard the final song on this year's Undercover list—Rollins Band's "Low Self Opinion"—until we asked him to tackle it for us. Sollee caught the spirit of the song but thankfully left most of the angst out, letting his cello provide the darkest moments. Next week we'll open the floor to voting, and maybe even throw some bonus tracks at you. In the meantime, if you're in the upper Midwest, Sollee and his posse are touring by bicycle at the moment; dates are below. Enjoy. 10/17: South Haven, MI
10/18: Benton Harbor, MI
10/19: Kalamazoo, MI
10/21: Grand Rapids, MI\ 10/22: Milwaukee, WI
10/24: Madison, WI
