Irene Triplett, 84 years old, still receives a Veterans Affairs pension for her father's service in the Civil War. The VA is also still paying benefits to 16 widows and children of veterans from the 1898 Spanish-American War and 4,038 widows, sons and daughters of World War I veterans.
