In the trim shop, Pasubio hides from Italy are used to swathe Bentley interiors: the cows are actually from Scandinavia and southern Germany, because a combination of a climate that has fewer insects and husbandry that doesn’t use barbed wire means there are fewer bite marks and scars on the cows’ skin than in other places in Europe. It takes five hours to stretch and sew the leather on a Mulsanne wheel and the amount of thread used for cross stitching a Continental’s interior—a special finish—amounts to the length of three soccer fields.
