ACCOKEEK, Md. (AP) — Beretta U.S.A. Corp. has announced it will move its manufacturing capabilities from Accokeek, Maryland, to Gallatin, Tennessee.
The company announced Tuesday it will move its manufacturing capabilities to a new production facility that it is building in Tennessee. That facility is scheduled to be opened in the middle of next year.
Jeff Cooper, general manager for Beretta, says the version of a gun-control bill that passed the Maryland Senate would have prohibited the company from being able to manufacture, store or even import into Maryland products that it sells. He says while lawmakers reversed some of those provisions, the company is concerned such restrictions could be reinstated in the future.
Beretta says it has no plans to relocate its office, administrative and executive support functions from Accokeek, Maryland.
