A former Bethesda preschool teacher pleaded guilty Monday to producing child pornography while teaching in Japan.
James Douglas Manring, 54, of Fredericksburg, Va., pleaded guilty in Alexandria federal court to two counts of production of child pornography, which carries a minimum of 10 years in prison for each count.
According to court documents, Manring filmed himself sexually abusing several 5-year-old students while he taught at a preschool in Japan from 1996 to 1999.
He taught preschool in Bethesda before his arrest in November.
