An angry bicyclist stabbed a motorist during a road rage incident in downtown D.C. Thursday night, reports WRC-TV.

D.C. police were called to the 1600 block of Massachusetts Avenue NW about 10:20 p.m. Witnesses told police that the bicyclist believed he was cut off in traffic and smashed the driver's side mirror of a Smart car with a heavy bike lock, according to the NBC affiliate.

The driver of the car got out, and the bicyclist stabbed the driver in the ribs and fled scene. The victim was expected to recover. The suspect remains on the loose, police said.
