During a speech at the Hispanic National Prayer Breakfast today, Vice President Joe Biden hailed the immigration reform bill – reminding the audience that both he and the President were both the children of immigrants. He added that the immigration laws for his ancestors were not nearly as strict as the laws that immigrants are facing today.

Biden revealed to the audience that his great-great-great grandfather came to America from Ireland in 1850. He also pointed out that President Obama’s great-great great grandfather left Ireland from the same Irish county for America.

“Isn’t that amazing?” Biden asked. “Barack Obama and I are now the president and vice-president of the United States of America. If we applied the same standards that we are applying today, it wouldn’t have happened.”
