Speaking to voters this afternoon, Vice President Biden explained that he ran for the U.S. Senate because the local council was “just too hard a job."
From the pool report:
One local official he greeted told him her name was Susan and she serves on the local council. “I ran for the Senate because the council was just too hard a job,” Biden told her. “They know where you live.”
Biden ran for New Castle County Council in 1970 at age 27. He served two years before winning his U.S. Senate race at age 29.
