Biographical details on Apple's Scott Forstall

Apple Inc. announced the departures of two top executives on Monday saying it wants to encourage collaboration between its hardware, software and services teams. Below are some biographical details on Scott Forstall, one of the current Mac operating system, OS X.

NAME: Scott Forstall

TITLE AT APPLE: Senior Vice President, iOS Software

JOINED APPLE: In 1997 when it bought Next, the company Steve Jobs founded after leaving Apple in the 1980s.

LEAVING APPLE: Next year, no date given. Will serve as an adviser to CEO Tim Cook in the meantime.

CAREER: His latest job was heading Apple's development of software for the iPhone and iPad. Forstall is one of the architects of the current Mac operating system, OS X.

EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in Symbolic Systems and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Stanford University.
