Biology professor to present Harrington Lecture

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — A University of South Dakota biology professor will present the university's 60th annual Harrington Lecture on Tuesday.

Karen Koster's talk entitled "Connections, Conundrums, and the Meaning of Life" will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Farber Hall.

Koster teaches courses on plant physiology, cellular physiology, cell biology and biology. Her research interests include understanding mechanisms of cellular dehydration tolerance, using seeds and moss to study how water loss affects cell structure.

She also performs research on seed longevity and the physical and chemical changes that occur in dehydrated cells.
