PITTSBURGH (AP) — Matt Cooke scored twice to lead the Black team to a 5-4 shootout over the White team in a Pittsburgh Penguins intrasquad scrimmage on Wednesday.

Tyler Kennedy and Brandon Sutter also scored for the Black team in the scrimmage played in front of a packed house at Consol Energy Center. Sutter, who came to Pittsburgh in a trade for popular center Jordan Staal last spring, also had two assists and was the game's MVP.

Reigning NHL MVP Evgeni Malkin had a goal and an assist for the White team. Kris Letang, Chris Kunitz and Beau Bennett also scored for the White team.

The free exhibition draw a massive crowd, with several thousand fans being turned away at the door after the arena reached capacity.

The Penguins open the season on Saturday in Philadelphia.
