Leggett appoints Hansen county attorney

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett has appointed acting County Attorney Marc Hansen to the suburb’s top legal post.

Hansen has served as acting county attorney since January when former County Attorney Leon Rodriguez resigned.

“With more than 26 years of experience in the County Attorney’s office, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this position,” Leggett said. “Montgomery County is fortunate to have someone of Marc’s caliber heading up our legal department.”

In 2006, Hansen was named deputy county attorney, supervising the chiefs of the office’s six divisions and serving as counsel to the County Council.

However, Hansen’s tenure as acting county attorney was not without controversy. Inspector General Thomas Dagley, who is leaving office, accused Hansen of interfering with some of his most damning reports.

Leggett has dismissed the accusation.
