A member of the MS-13 gang has pleaded guilty to a sex-trafficking charge, admitting that he operated a prostitution business that employeed young runaway girls.
Alonso Cornejo Ormeno, 22, pleaded guilty in federal court in Alexandria to sex trafficking of a minor.
The Fairfax resident ran his prostitution operation from August 2009 to April 2010, according to plea documents. He admitted that he recruited “vulnerable juvenile females” who had run away from home and exploited them as prostitutes in the Northern Virginia area.
He knew the girls were under age 18, the documents say.
Cornejo Ormeno admitted that he arranged clients for the girls, scheduled appointments, rented motel rooms and took the girls to meet with clients.
He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and could get up to life in prison for the offense, his plea agreement says. He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 4.
Cornejo Ormeno was indicted in May.
He is the second MS-13 member in Northern Virginia to be convicted in a sex-trafficking case this summer. In July, a jury in federal court in Alexandria found 24-year-old Jose Ciro Juarez-Santamaria guilty of conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation of a minor for prostitution charges.
Also in July, another MS-13 member, 19-year-old Alexander Rivas, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in a similar sex-trafficking case.
