Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is no stranger to attracting protesters, thanks to his move to strip collective bargaining rights from public employees in his state. But on Thursday night the Republican governor attended the Americans for Tax Reform holiday party without even a hint of an Occupy DC party crash. Walker showed up about an hour into the party, which was thrown by ATR head Grover Norquist and his staffers. Others in attendance included conservative columnist John Fund, Slate’s Dave Weigel, National Rifle Association head David Keene and an assortment of journalists and friends of the organization.
Occupy DC protesters have shown up at the Metro Center offices of ATR in the past, we’re told. Upon their arrival they’ve chanted, “Taxes are sharing, sharing is caring,” as ATR is responsible for holding a majority of Republicans in Congress, and several Democrats too, to a signed pledge to never raise taxes.
