“We dropped Jesse off in the morning of December 14, he gave me a hug and a kiss and said, ‘I love you, Dad. I love Mom too.’”

That’s how Neil Heslin, father of Sandy Hook victims Jesse Lewis, opens a new gun control ad aimed at influencing pending Connecticut gun legislation.

The ad by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, co-chaired by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, features the families of three other Sandy Hook victims:  seven-year-old Grace McDonnell and teachers Lauren Rousseau and Vicky Soto.

The families describe their loved ones and the last time they saw the victims alive, before urging laws they say could prevent other families from going through their experience.

The family members are then replaced by text listing gun control measures. “Connecticut can save lives,” it says. “Comprehensive background checks, limit high capacity magazines, assault weapons ban.”

“Don’t let the memory of Newtown fade without doing something real,” Terri Rousseau, Lauren’s mother, concludes.
