One dead, five others hurt in spate of violent crimes

One person was killed and five others injured in a series of violent crimes the District that occurred between Friday night and Saturday morning, D.C. police said.

A man at 15th and Adams streets in Northeast D.C. was shot in the groin at about 9:45 p.m. on Friday. He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

About a half hour later at 10:15, another man was shot multiple times in the 5800 block of Southern Avenue SE. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

At 10:30 p.m., two women were stabbed in the arm in the 2600 block of Birney Place SE, and a man was stabbed in the arm on the 2000 block of Rosedale Street NE.

On Saturday morning, a man was shot in the chest on 11th and N streets in Northeast and was transported to a local hospital. He was conscious and breathing and is expected to recover.

Though all the incidents occurred in a relatively short time span, police said they do not believe any of the incidents were related.

Police seeking hit-and-run driver who hurt two teens

Police in Anne Arundel County are looking for a driver they say hit and seriously injured two teenagers.

Three teenagers were walking along the narrow shoulder of Mountain Road on Friday night when an SUV came and hit two of them. A 15-year-old boy was critically injured and a 13-year-old girl was seriously injured. The third teen girl, 13, was not injured.

The vehicle fled the scene. Police say they are looking for a 1997 to 2002 Ford Expedition that likely has damage to the passenger side headlight.
