During an event with the press this morning, Speaker Rep. John Boehner R-Ohio challenged President Obama’s dismal record on raising taxes and spending.

Boehner signaled he was not interested in additional calls for government spending to boost the economy, suggesting that it would only make the economic problems in America worse.

“If government spending were the tonic for all our ills, this would have been solved a long time ago,” he said reminding the press that Obama added five trillion dollars in new debt over the last four years.

“How much further is he going to run us into the sewer?” Boehner asked.
