BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi authorities say a car bomb attack and shootings have killed five people in and north of the capital.

Police say the deadliest of Monday's attacks took place when a car bomb exploded near a restaurant frequented by members of the security forces in Tuz Khormato, killing three people, including two soldiers, and wounding 17 others.

Tuz Khormato is about 200 kilometers (130 miles) north of Baghdad.

Police said gunmen shot dead an Industry Ministry employee in a drive-by-shooting on a highway in eastern Baghdad. Also, gunmen killed an off-duty policeman as he was walking near his house in the Baiyaa neighborhood in western Baghdad.

Medical officials confirmed the casualties. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
